    Devices vary, but you typically need to hold the phone up to a contactless pay device. Your phone will prompt you to unlock your phone with facial ID, a fingerprint or a password.

    When you pay using digital payments, your card info is not stored or transferred to the merchant — so your card data is protected.

    It’s easy to update your card in your Digital Wallet. First, delete your old card from your payment app. Then add the card back to the payment app as if you were doing it for the first time. The digital code associated with your card will be deleted and a new one will be assigned.

    Always! Digital Wallet technology is simply another option for you to complete a purchase. However, like all transactions, merchants may still charge a credit card processing fee (depending on the purchase).

    Start by seeing if your mobile device is compatible. You can learn more about the functions and capabilities of each Digital Wallet by visiting the app that’s compatible for your payments: Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

    Your card number is never used in a Digital Wallet transaction. Should the cashier need the last digits of your unique number, this can be found with your card information in your Digital Wallet app.

    Some purchases, like at gas stations and vending machines, require a pre-authorization before you can actually make the purchase. In these instances, your Digital Wallet will show the authorization amount and not the final purchase price. Your final purchase price will be accurate in Patelco Online and Mobile Banking, and on your account statement.

    Digital Wallet solutions assign, encrypt and securely store a unique “token” for each transaction. When a purchase is made, the token, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process the payment. Your card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with the payment.

    When you set up the Digital Wallet app on your new phone, you may be asked to re-authenticate your card and account. Follow the instructions provided in the app.
